I could not believe what I was reading in this article! 50+ and 40+ year old men marrying girls as young as eight years old! What did I learn from reading this article? In Saudi Arabia, it is okay to be a pedophile; perfectly legal to have marital intercourse with an 8 year old girl. This is the most disgusting and outrageous thing I have ever heard. I understand they live in a patriarchal society, but this is far beyond crossing the line!
Woman should have the right to say no just as men do. I do not believe that any child at such a young age could ever fully understand what it is to be married, but in their society, it obviously doesn’t matter what the girl/women think. It’s all about what the men want.
This is absolutely disgusting. I hope and pray that a law is passed creating a minimum age for marriage to happen! I hope it’s not abused either!
Oh… and I love how the article says,

I love how it is so wrong for girls to commit “spinsterhood” but it is totally okay for a 50 year old man to marry an 8 year old girl. Anyone else see something wrong with this picture? If anything, a girl would commit “spinsterhood” because she was forced, I believe that to be the case in Saudi Arabia at least.
I cannot not believe the amount of disrespect those women and girls receive in that culture. I pray and hope that not all marriages in that country are defiled in such a way!
